报告摘要:Energy storage and conversion play a critical role in facilitating the penetration of renewable energy and reducing carbon emissions of conventional energy systems. Among various energy storage technologies, phase transition-based thermal energy storage (TES) allows energy to be stored at a higher energy density so that it can be used, later on, for heating and cooling purposes as well as for power generation. The development of highly efficient and cost-effective thermal storage materials as well as the corresponding devices and systems has attracted much attention, in particular for the applications of different renewable energy systems. In this talk, I will introduce my previous research works on phase transition based thermal energy storage technologies, including both physical phase transition (solid-liquid and liquid-gas) and chemical phase transition (solid-gas thermochemical heat storage), as well as their applications in particular for the decarbonisation on heating and cooling.

报告人简介:Professor Yongliang Li is a Chair of Thermal Energy Engineering in the School of Chemical Engineering at the University of Birmingham. He is also the Deputy Director of the Birmingham Centre for Energy Storage (BCES) and the leader of the RESET (Renewable Energy Storage and Efficient Transformation) group. His research vision is to address the challenges of the electrification and decarbonisation of thermal energy on the resilience of the future renewable energy supply chain, by the development and deployment of highly efficient and cost-effective thermal energy storage and conversion technologies via fundamental innovation on composite materials development and phase transition process intensification. He is leading several EPSRC-funded major projects in the areas of heating/cooling decarbonization and grid-scale energy storage and is also coordinating an international research exchange platform on sustainable cooling and cold storage (funded by the European Commission), consisting of 17 academic and industrial partners from the UK, EU, China, Egypt, Thailand, Singapore, USA, Canada, and Chile. He has authored and co-authored more than 130 journal papers, reviews, and book chapters with an h-index of 34. He has won several prestigious awards including the Dorothy Hodgkin Award, the CSC Award, and the Collaborative Development Award for his academic achievements.
