This presentation provides an overview of the Technical University of Madrid (UPM), focusing on its Space and Aeronautics Engineering School, including its academic programs and student organizations. Additionally, it highlights Madrid’s cultural offerings, such as historic sites, museums, and nearby destinations, giving international students an introduction to academic and cultural life in the Spanish capital.

报告人简介：

Omar Gómez Ortega earned his PhD in Aerospace Engineering in 2021 and has been an Associate Professor at the School of Space and Aeronautics Engineering at Universidad Politécnica de Madrid since 2018. Since 2016, he has been a researcher at the Instituto Universitario de Microgravedad “Ignacio da Riva”. Dr. Gómez-Ortega’s research focuses primarily on the aerodynamics of bluff bodies, with particular emphasis on the aeroelasticity of suspended spheres and experimental wind engineering. His current research includes aeroelastic analyses of solar trackers and high-rise buildings. He has published nine papers in leading journals in wind engineering, such as the Journal of Wind Engineering and Industrial Aerodynamics, Journal of Fluids and Structures, and Engineering Structures. Additionally, he has presented his work at prestigious wind engineering conferences organized by the International Association of Wind Engineering, including ICWE15, EACWE8, ICWE16, and BBAAIX.
